- KORG i1/i2/i3/i4S/i5M/i5S MIDI DATA CACHE
- in Standard MIDI File (SMF) format
- Compatible with computer sequencers with MIDI File import facilities
- Produced, edited, arranged and documented by
- Kevan R.Craft and Gareth R.Craft
- (C) Copyright 1995/1996
-
- PRESET and USER Styles
- for the Korg i1/i2/i3/i4S/i5M/i5S Interactive Music Workstations
- Some are Saved in the key of CM7 (C Major 7th) or Cm7 (C minor 7th)
- Majority of Time Signatures are 4/4 but some are 2/4, 3/4 etc..
-
- Stored here in Standard MIDI File (SMF) format 0 - including PGM data for
- synth program Voices, CTL data for Volume, Pan, Portamento, Damper Pedal
- and fade, plus Channel Aftertouch data and Pitch Bend data; all the
- parameter settings are appropriate to each separate Korg i1/i2/i3/i4S/i5M
- and i5S PRESET and USER styles and arrangements..
-
- Each Style consists of of 4 Variations. 2 Fills, 2 Intros and 2 Endings,
- Each style sub directory also contains the .BSQ (Backing Sequence) file
- which was used as a template to save the 10 .MID files used for each style.
-
- Load the .MID files into an EMPTY sequence track in your MIDI Software
- sequencer and utilise these quality files for composition and arrangements.
- Alternatively, use the i2/i3/i4S/i5M or i5S Interactive Music Workstations
- themselves to create even more variations on the styles, or, you can use
- your computer with MIDI Sequencing software which is capable of
- importing Standard MIDI Files (SMF). If the Time Signature is not 4/4 -
- i.e. 3/4 for the country style, then you are required to implement
- the appropriate 3/4 time signature EVENT in the sequencer track yourself!
-
- Alternatively, copy the Standard MIDI Files (SMF) to a blank 720k MSDOS
- formatted disk and load directly into the Korg i2/i3 Standard MIDI File
- (SMF) on-board sequencer, and then enter the EDIT style mode and grab
- whatever MIDI note data you require from the sequencer tracks 1 - 8 and
- and MIDI Channels 10 - 15
-
- Here's a quick guide:-)
-
- Track MIDI Channel Instrument
- 1 1 Keyboard Right hand (Default upper)
- 2 2 Keyboard Left Hand (Default Lower)
- 3 10 Drums
- 4 11 Percussion
- 5 12 Bass
- 6 13 ACC 1
- 7 14 ACC 2
- 8 15 ACC 3
-
- All drum data has been saved as (GM) General MIDI using bass drum note #36,
- snare drum #38 and Crash cymbal note #49 as the Korg i2/i3/i4S/i5M and i5S
- manual states to facilitate drum mapping directly from the Korg
- i2/i3/i4S and i5S on-board keyboard options and arrangements/style
- options.. The i5M is a desktop module version without a keyboard but will
- share the same principle for it styles..
-
- Alternatively, its also possible to load this data into your Computer
- software MIDI sequencer to use for composition and arrangements purposes,
- but remember that the actual MIDI instruments are all in the key of either
- C Major 7th or C minor 7th, except the drums and percussion of course.. The
- majority of drum parts in the Korg styles are configured for General MIDI
- (GM) but some employ specific USER KITS such as FUNK, most of the
- percussion parts employ Korg's own Percussion USER KIT on channel 11. (for
- more info on this refer to the actual STYLE data which lists instruments
- and USER KITS used for each style..)
-
- Hope this mega stuff comes in useful to you as much as it is to both Gareth
- and myself..
-
- Cheers.. Kevan and Gareth Craft/MIDICraft.. 1995/1996/1997
